J&G Steakhouse

For all the hype, the experience of eating at J&G is incredibly lack-luster. The staff is incredibly enthusiastic and friendly, and the service was exceptional. There was live music in the bar area, which at first seemed great. However, we were seated fairly far away and the music was still so loud it was difficult to carry a conversation at the table without constantly asking each other to repeat what was just said. The menu is really why this steakhouse is not my favorite. Nothing on this menu stands out as signature to the restaurant or special. We may as well have eaten at Outback for a quarter of the price. The kids menu is incredibly basic: pasta, grilled cheese, chicken. There are no options for children to have a high quality meal unless you order from the adult menu. We got the chilled shellfish platter to start. It looked lovely, but really was not great. The condiments were lacking and overall this dish was a disappointment. At our table we got the salmon and two different steaks Oscar style, grilled asparagus and roasted mushrooms. Everything was cooked alright, nothing was over the top delicious. We passed on desert as nothing really stood out. Overall, we had a nice time and decent food, but we will not be returning. This restaurant did not impress. There are plenty of other options in the area that have the wow-factor this restaurant is missing.

My bf took me to a special 30th birthday dinner at J&G and I must say I didn’t know what to expect but they were just the best! I received a card wishing me a happy birthday on arrival. We were sat where we had the most spectacular view of the place and the sun setting. The server was the greatest and brought us complimentary cheese fritters. The food and drinks were amazing I had the salmon w/ sides of asparagus and the potato gratin w/ Comte which was to die for. The Chef did their thing everything was so full of flavor. The complimentary birthday dessert was perfect with a little bit of everything. It was truly a great birthday dinner. I went home with a full tummy and happy heart.

We made reservations the day before. Upon arrival, we were quickly seated. We ordered a plethora of food. Chopped salad, French Onion Soup, truffle fries, loaded potato, broccoli, spinach, lamb chops, wagyu tomahawk steak, with sorbet to share. Everything was delicious. The meat was tender. The food was fresh. The waiter was very nice and helpful with the menu. He also took a few pictures for us as well. The restaurant was modern and had live music playing.

Over Labor Day weekend we dined @jgsteakhousescottsdale and had an absolutely great time. Service was EXCELLENT, the ambiance EXCELLENT, the most important…food was EXCELLENT. J&G Steakhouse is located at @phoenicianscottsdale where we stayed for the weekend. We ordered the crispy calamari, grass fed boneless ribeye steak, macaroni and cheese, and the Lamb T-Bone. The calamari was so delicious and full of flavor. The seasoning on this was superb and the rosemary dipping sauce complimented it so well. The grass fed ribeye came with broccoli condiment, crispy garlic, ginger and chili….great flavors. The steak was cooked perfect, broccoli prepared just right, and the crispy garlic, ginger and chili concoction gave a nice kick to the steak. (chef's kiss). Lastly, the creamy mac and cheese and lamb T-Bone was different yet flavorful and tender. We were seated at a really nice table with a view of the grounds of the resort along with some of Phoenix mountain views. Everything was just beautiful.

One of the best steaks that I have had in the desert. Visiting town from Los Angeles for the weekend so we wanted a special place to have a great dinner. I have stayed at the Phoenician a few times before so have known about J&G for quite a while but last night was our first time trying it. It has great views of the valley and is very large and open on the inside. They have a large and long bar with live music on one side and then a lot of seating options next to that. We reserved a booth by the window however there was a booking issue so we had to sit at another table. Our server was very polite and prompt, and made up for the seating mishap a bit. I chose the Heirloom Tomatoes with Roasted Peaches, and the Filet Mignon 12oz. The heirloom tomatoes were very tasty although the dish was very small in portion size. I wouldn’t really call it an appetizer, it is more a starter or tapas sized portion. The steak, however, was delicious and cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the better steaks that I’ve had in the desert and I would certainly order it again. Overall a really great dinner with great service and a great steak. The only issue we had was the seating mishap, but aside from that it was a great dinner overall and I would definitely recommend it.

Had no reservation but the ladies at the front desk were super friendly and quickly gave me a table. My waiter (Michael) was extremely attentive, as most other waiters and waitresses. Starter (Risotto) was good. As a main dish, I chose the Bone-In Ribeye. Even though I am not the biggest fan of this cut, it was exceptionally juicy and well seasoned. I would truly say, one of the best I ever had, better than at most high-end steakhouses in Los Angeles (and cheaper). Side (Broccoli) was a little „boring“, it came in one big peace and didn’t have a lot of seasoning/taste, but that was totally OK. Very good experience, would return
